Description
AED 300 Acoustic Flow Meter - AcoustiFlow®
The AED 300 Acoustic Flow Meter - AcoustiFlow® is used to determine the flow resistance of materials with open porosity based on the direct-flow method described in DIN EN 29053 (ISO 9053). This method requires the measurement of the pressure drop across the test body under investigation as a function of the volume flow. The specific flow resistance of a sound absorber significantly affects its sound absorption coefficient.
Application areas of acoustic flow meter
The measurement system offers the following application possibilities, among others:
Quality control in the production process on cylindrical test bodies in the laboratory non-destructively on plate-shaped test bodies in situ Input parameters for acoustic modeling calculations Absorber model according to Delany / Bazley Phenomenological model for open-cell asphalt, for example for the evaluation of the texture of road surfaces Biot theory Numerical software solutions such as Comsol Multiphysics* Calculation of the transmission attenuation and insertion attenuation of noise dampers (see software for the design of noise dampers AED 8001 - AcoustiCalc® Silencer) Optimization in research and development of materials with open porosity of structures and components Sample holders Depending on the application area, the user has access to various sample holders - special versions are available on request.
Sample holder I Application area: Determination of the flow resistance of materials with open porosity in the laboratory
Samples: cylindrical test bodies with a diameter of 100 mm (required according to the standard), 40 mm and 30 mm as well as bulk materials, fabrics and coverings Application:
Prefabricated cylindrical samples of variable thickness are inserted into the sample holder and acoustically sealed
Sample holder II Application area: Non-destructive determination of the flow resistance of materials with open porosity on site
Samples: Material samples with a flat surface of at least 240 mm in diameter Application:
The sample holder is pressed to the test body with a defined force Various seals between the sample holder and the test body are available depending on the intended use
Compression sample holder for acoustic flow meter As of now, a new compression sample holder extends the range of application of the acoustic flow meter, impedance tube AED 1000 - AcoustiTube® and transmission tube. The sample holder is almost infinitely adjustable in length and enables the defined compression of cylindrical test bodies of soft materials (e.g. glass wool) and bulk materials for the measurement of flow resistance, sound absorption coefficient, absorption characteristics and sound insulation. Thin materials and multilayer systems can also be installed in a controlled manner. Software The acoustic flow meter is supported by the analysis software AED 311. Determination of the flow resistance as a function of the flow velocity / volume flow Calculation of linear regression and extrapolation of the flow resistance to a flow velocity of 0.5 mm/s Averaging of measurement results over different material samples Simple management and comparison of results through a database
