Description
AED 3001 - AcoustiCalc® Absorber
Overview
AED 3001 - AcoustiCalc® Absorber is an effective tool for the design of multilayer sound absorbers by simulating the sound absorption coefficient.
Function
The simulation software for sound absorbers is based on the analytical description of the individual layers of the sound absorber as fourpoles according to linear network theory. All models are taken from the current literature.
Applications
The sound absorber software can be used for the following applications:
Acoustic consulting and design Manufacturing of sound absorbers Calculation models and input parameters
Various calculation models for the modeling of the acoustic effectiveness of porous absorbers are available for the design, such as:
Empirical model by DELANY and BAZELY Model of the homogeneous medium Phenomenological model Model for porous curtains Air gap
The following measurable material properties are used as input parameters:
Length-dependent or specific flow resistance (e.g. measurement with flow resistance measuring device AED 300 - AcoustiFlow®) Porosity Structure factor or tortuosity Alternatively, complex absorption characteristics measured directly in the transmission tube AED 1200 - AcoustiTube® can be imported to take into account even geometrically complex porous material layers as well as possible.
Calculation results
By selecting the appropriate geometric parameters and material parameters, you can optimize all multilayer systems with regard to the sound-absorbing requirements. By flexibly combining individual layers, geometrically complex sound absorbers can also be built.
The calculation of the sound absorption coefficient can be performed for different sound fields / sound conditions:
The simulation results for statistical (diffuse) sound incidence can be directly compared to the sound absorption coefficient from measurements in the reverberation room and/or the Alpha cabin. They are used directly to determine the rated sound absorption coefficient and the absorber class. The simulation results for vertical sound incidence can be directly compared to the sound absorption coefficient measured in the impedance tube AED 1000 - AcoustiTube®. Advantages of the sound absorber software
A decisive advantage of the absorber software over measurements in the reverberation room / in the impedance tube is that different products can be directly compared with each other in terms of their sound-absorbing properties for a defined thickness, even if the product-specific thickness is different.
In addition, all layer-specific input parameters only need to be determined once.
Conclusion
AED 3001 - AcoustiCalc® Absorber is a versatile tool for the design of multilayer sound absorbers. It is used in a variety of applications, including acoustic consulting and design, and the manufacturing of sound absorbers. The software is easy to use and provides accurate results.
