Description
AED 1000 Impedance Tube - AcoustiTube®
The AED 1000 Impedance Tube - AcoustiTube® is a measurement system for determining the sound absorption coefficient, reflection factor, and impedance ratio of test bodies in the laboratory based on the transfer function method according to DIN EN ISO 10534-2. An extension for the impedance tube to a transmission tube allows the additional measurement of absorption characteristics and sound insulation of open-celled materials. The material parameters can also be measured under defined compression using a special compression test fixture.
Principle of the impedance tube (Kundt's tube)
In the impedance tube, a plane sound wave is emitted against a sound-absorbing material sample in front of a sound-hard termination and the resulting sound pressure is measured using two microphones located in front of the material sample. By evaluating the incident and reflected sound energy, the sound absorption capacity of the material can be determined.
Probe holders Probe holder I
Application area: Determination of the sound absorption coefficient in the laboratory according to DIN EN ISO 10534-2
Samples: Cylindrical test bodies with a diameter of 15 mm, 30 mm, 40 mm, or 100 mm Application: Prefabricated cylindrical test bodies with variable thickness are placed in steplessly adjustable and lockable test holders and acoustically sealed. Probe holder II
Application area: Determination of the sound absorption coefficient in situ according to DIN ISO 13472-2 (sound absorption coefficient < 0.15)
Samples: Road surfaces and plate-shaped test bodies with a surface area of at least 300 mm x 300 mm Application: Adapter for the acoustically tight coupling of the impedance tube to the test body surface. Compression test fixture for impedance tube
As of now, a new compression test fixture extends the range of application of the impedance tube, transmission tube, and flow resistance measuring device AED 300 - AcoustiFlow®. The test fixture is almost infinitely adjustable in length and enables the defined compression of cylindrical test bodies and bulk materials for the measurement of sound absorption coefficient, absorption characteristics, sound insulation, and flow resistance. Thin materials and multilayer systems can also be installed in a controlled manner.
Software The AED 1000 measurement system is supported by the analysis software AED 1001 (new version 2). Determination of material properties as a function of frequency Averaging of results over different material samples Simple management and comparison of results through database
